Realization
I just realized that Christmas is 49 days away, and I am not happy about it. The stores have been showing signs of this event for at least a month. The towns are already putting up their decorations. The shopping circulars are already claiming Christmas sales. It annoys me. It all just annoys me. Is it too soon to start saying "bah humbug"?.

I'd like to point out a ray of sunshine in this: My birthday is only 42 days away! No one is advertising "Susan's birthday" sales though..hrrmm..

I've tried to tune it out (just as I am tuning out Susan's plea for birthday advertising). It gets more and more difficult every year.
It is not too soon...I have to deal with all of that despite the fact that my birthday is in between thanksgiving and christmas....let's slow down people. Give me my shine.

(i'm all for the original meaning of christmas, just not thrilled about the caotic fiasco it's become. one of these days i'm gonna convince j to boycott it with me. before j and i got together my christmas celebrations consisted of sardines for the cats and booze for me. that's it. no decorations, no cheesy music, no bs dinners with people i didn't want to be with. i miss it.)
