Hair
I'm having a bad hair day. In fact, let's just call it a "bad hair month". Now before you start telling me about all the wonderful hair care products that are guaranteed to make my hair soft, luxurious, and manageable, let me tell you, I have invested what could be 1/3 of my vast fortune (if indeed I had a vast fortune) on hair products. All of the them promised me no frizz, manageable, soft and silky hair. None have kept their promise.
My hair has had many changes through out the years. It has been as long as Rapunzel's and as short as my boyfriend's. It has been a natural chestnut brown , various shades of purples and reds and the basic black. When it was very long, it was very straight. Once I had it cut, it became very curly and developed a life of it's own.
Living in the tropics has taken it's toll. The constant heat and the extreme humidity make it look frizzy and wild and out of control. I have tried every product on the market to stop the "frizz". All have failed me. Some days I try blow drying it straight, some days I just go with the frizz and wild.
I need a new style. Should I cut it? Dye it? What color? What style? Should I go with something totally new and different? How different? Bangs or no bangs? How about the part? In the middle or to the side? Which side? Oh, the joy's of being a girl.
I want something requiring little or no attention. Perhaps bald, is the way to go. As for color, am leaning towards "Malaysian cherry". I don't know what color " Malaysian cherry " is, but when I looked up hair color that one sounded sexy and appealing. My goal is to do something with my hair sometime next week. Got any ideas about my new look? What's you secret to non frizz hair? Any suggestions on style, and color? Got some hair horror stories to make me feel better?

I vote Mohawk, blue.
Tommy, blue is so not my color, thanks for stopping in.
Go with a pony tail it’s easy, functional, and sexy when done at the right time. Plus you don't have to do anything but use a rubber band to put it up, problem solved.
gp, thanks for the input but a rubber band? those are for use only with rolled up posters.(and for shooting at unsuspecting passerbys)
You want a horror story? I remember I let my doctor talk me into getting the depo shot......let's just say it took months of Hair, Skin, & Nail vitamins to grow that shit back!
Get some mousse or something rub it in and then let the wind do what it will. Next pretend you don't care what people think. It will automatically be cool because of your aloof attitude.
Es~HEEEYYY! What happened to my comment??? Let's just say I've experienced my hair falling out before! Now if that's not a bad hair day, I don't know what is! Just go with whatever makes you happy for a day and be glad to have hair!!!
Tera, ohh the horrible depo shot, just more shit girls gotta deal with. not fair really.
amadeo, muchas gracias, that's what I need more then great hair, a cool aloof attitude.
tera, some women can really carry off that almosty bald look. (did ya post more than 2 comments? all I got was 2)
as much as i would love to offer you some sage advice on the subject, i can't help you. before cheeks, (bc) i had ~great~ hair. straight, thick, full bodied. ~now~ ac, it sucks. frizzy as all get out. won't hold a curl for more than 2 minutes. if you figure something out let me know. untill then i'll stick with my baseball hats.
All four of the pics in the blog post look good...just choose one of those ;)
Sent you an email with a look I like. Let me know what you think.
Heather, baseball hats have come a long way, you can find one to match just about any outfit and all your shoes. it is the ONLY solution to frizz.
Em, duh ...if I could have made up my mind about one of those, I wouldn't have asked for help.
Jali, loved the look and it's my #1 choice right now. gracias.
You're a PR-frizzy, unmanageable curly hair is what we inherited as oppose to money.
Take it from me who has been fighting with my hair forever, longer is better, get rid of the gray, if any :)and use lots of pomade.
Humidity sucks big time on our hair and if you recall practice the "do-be" at night!
spunky, damn, why couldn't we get the "good hair" gene? that "do-be" line cracked me up.
I'm going to see what turns up because I need a new look, too.
Nix on bald, though, unless you're really Grace Jones.
Stories like these are why my hair is (a) shaved as close to my scalp as possible without leaving me bald, and (b) why I was born a male.
Good luck with the hair plans. Wish I had more advice to offer.
heart, Thanks for the input, will re-consider bald since now that you mention it, grace jones, I am NOT.
Kofi, see now there's another option, a close shave but not bald, wonder if that look would work for me ...
I have horribly thick hair. It's also very wavy. In the 80s it was the thing dreams were made of. So big. So lovely. So much aqua net. One day I decided I was going to do something different. My "hair specialist" decided to cut a million layers in my prone to get big any time it's humid and oh did I mention I live in a town surrounded by rivers?? hair. I wore a hat for a good two months. After that it was long enough to pull back.
I hope your want to change turns out better than mine did.
susan, thanks for the heads up on layers, it's now on my "don't list". I currently am doing the pulled back thing, damn, what's a girl to do?
I'm waiting for the free happy hour to start in my hotel.
Fringes, what better way to kill time than visiting me. Enjoy happy hour.
All I can add is, don't cut your hair yourself. I tried it once, and I had to wear a hat for two weeks.
Bill, thanks for the words of advice, and for stopping by the asylum.
Nope! Just 2...we're good!!!
FYI--it's "passersby", not "passerbys".
I'm a big fan of pigtails personally. Lil buns for dress up. God, I'm lazy.
tera, groovy, all is well.
Anon, thank you, it's tough learning english.
Lee, with your incredible talent, who cares about your hair, but I am going to try the "buns look", and see what happens.
No suggestions but so enjoyed the topic... I hate to admit I giggled through your pain...So sorry and so looking forward to reading of your remedy....
Hola!
Long time no see. About the hair thing...all you need is a Dominican hair dresser to live at your house and all your problems will be solved. LOL
Rachel
pendullum, thanks for stopping in and giggling through my pain, I do love the attention.
Rachel, yes it has been a long time, too long. You have been missed. I agree, those dominicanas sure can blow dry hair. Thanks for stopping by the asylum, please do stop in again.
Oh, you're too good to me.
lee, just telling the truth.
@Anonymous (if that's your real name).
Do a Google search for passerbys and you get 75,000 hits. Granted that's half as much as passersby, but surely enough to make it legitimate.
It's a living language dude (or dudette).
